Creative Notes:
Often when I read a prompt I know exactly what I want to do. I have a colour or gemstone in mind and I start from there. This time I wasn’t sure so I started to sift through one of my boxes of gemstones for inspiration.
When I think of a meadow I envision gold and green grasses with Queen Anne’s lace above swaying in the breeze. A stream with its dark, rushing water influenced by the rocks and moss around it. For sky it could be that welcome pale blue as winter winds down or that bright, penetrating blue of a sun filled day.
At first, I only thought of making individual pieces until I saw this string of Rainbow Apatite at the bottom of the box. It’s not the expected rainbow colours you might think of but the golden grass of a meadow, the dark green blue of a river and the bright turquoise blue of a summer sky. It was a string of gems meant for these words.
I made this beaded necklace with light olive green silk thread. Each tiny bead hugged together with a tiny knot. It is finished with a 14k gold filled clasp in the back.

This necklace is part of a project I did to get me through the winter of 2024. A daily Creative Project based on a published word prompt. It was an incredible way to wake up my creativity in a typically dreary time of year. It became such a joy to stretch my creativity, try new things and even go back to some of my older designs. I hope you love it too. xo Nancy.
